Suzanne Tate, DVM, graduated from veterinary school at Michigan State University in 1990. Sue also received her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University. Directly after graduating, Sue began working at DePorre Veterinary Hospital. In 1999, Sue moved over to Troy Veterinary Hospital in the dual role of hospital manager and veterinarian. In May of 2008, Sue purchased the hosital from the DePorre's and became Troy Veterinary Hospital's new Practice Manager.
Sue remembers wanting to be a vet since the age of eight. She always had a keen desire to help people be responsible pet owners. As a young owner of pocket pets such as mice, rats, and guinea pigs, Sue found that most vets at that time didn't know much about them. This motivated Sue, in veterinary school, to take a special interest and additional classes in pocket pets. One of the things she finds most rewarding about her job is helping people to really understand their pet's problem and treatment options.
Sue's genuine concern for the health and welfare of every pet that comes through our doors, coupled with her kindness and patience in working with them, contribute to the high standard of animal care set at Troy Veterinary Hospital.
Sue shares her home with an Aussie-mix dog named Mobil. Due to Mobil's severe epilepsy and Sue's long work days, Mobil accompanies Sue to work every day.
Gourmet cooking, cross-country skiing, gardening, home improvements, and collecting veterinary antiques are some of Sue's other pleasures.
